Tropical
Cyclone Winston.
Following Cyclone Winston, MFAT commissioned PBS to lead recovery and reconstruction across Fiji's remote Northern Lau Group. Fifty-two schools restored. Twenty-eight new buildings raised. The facilities double as community evacuation shelters.
PBS overcame logistical challenges — limited materials, scarce skilled labour — by establishing base camps and employing local workers. The project supported the local economy through job creation and training, while assisting communities in cyclone preparedness. Strategic planning, material sourcing, and remote-island construction expertise made it possible.

AusAid
recovery.
PBS was contracted under Australia's Cyclone Recovery Program to rebuild schools across Central, Northern, and North West Vanua Levu. These schools are designed to withstand Category 5 cyclones and function as community evacuation shelters.
The new facilities incorporate renewable energy solutions — solar panels and rainwater collection — alongside passive design features like high ceilings for natural ventilation, contributing to Fiji's climate resilience goals.
