Surfers Ready For Lighthouse Challenge

Over the last 40 years, surfing “Hawaii’s Sport of Kings”, has been blooming on the west side of the Suva harbour entrance, next to the twin lighthouses, two miles out to sea.

With more than 40 competitors in this year’s Pacific Building Solutions (PBS) Lighthouse Challenge which is set for Saturday, the best surfers from all over Fiji will be putting their bodies on the line over the razor-sharp reef, to vie for the division titles.

Suva Reef Surfers Fiji (SRSF) would like to thank the sponsors, Pacific Building Solutions and Donut King for supporting this annual event.

The SRSF, along with the Fiji Surfing Association, seeks to develop young talent from all over the country, with an ultimate aim of success in the 2020 Olympics in Japan- where surfing will be recognised as an Olympic sport for the first time.

Competitors and spectators are to assemble at the Royal Suva Yacht Club at 6.30am on Saturday for transfer out to the reef.
