In 1996, Colin Dunlop founded Alloy Fabricators - a marine engineering and ship building company based in Lami, Suva. He successfully managed the company for a decade before PBS acquired the business including its offices, workshop and factory, plant, equipment and talented team of ship builders, fabricators, welders, boilermakers, pipe-fitters and project managers. This team quickly became the nucleus of our Ship Works division.

Today, this dept which also repairs and refits ships and barges is a healthy segment of PBS' growing multi-discipline construction business so much so that the company recently leveraged its core skill set as a builder by branching out into wooden boat building (pleasure craft) - primarily building classical mahogany replicas from the by-gone Golden Era.
The Ship Works division includes a naval architect, engineers and ship building professionals who have been involved in a wide variety of barge and ship design and build initiatives including:

• 10.5m Harbour tug for Rarotonga
• 2 x commercial fishing boats for Samoa 15m & 17.5m
• 18m commercial fishing boat for Noumea: BV Class
• 10m Para-sailing boat diesel jet powered
• 10m Boat for the Church of the Nazarene
• Numerous resort diving and fishing boats 6.25m - 10m
• 3.0m extension and dive platform: design and build 75ft steel mast and rigging to 135ft dive boat
• Several glass bottom coral viewing boats about 8m

The team, who has been working together for over a decade, is led by Colin Dunlop, arguably Fiji's finest and most experienced naval architect and ship builder with over 40 years of experience.

Colin was the former President of the Fiji Marine Board. His impressive list of achievements includes:

SHIP WORKS

As odd as it might seem, ship, boat and barge building including repairs and refits is now a healthy division of PBS' multi-discipline construction business.
