LAUCALA ISLAND RESORT
Laucala Island, FIJI ISLANDS
Laucala Island Resort sets a new standard of luxury resort, not only in Fiji and the South Pacific, but throughout the world. Pacific Building Solutions was the largest construction company in Fiji when we employed over 1500 local and expats including Indonesian and Chinese craftsmen to complete the various phases of this construction project.
Laucala Island Resort was built to be self-sufficient and boasts one of the largest swimming pools in the Southern Hemisphere. PBS was engaged to build over 300 structures including luxury villas, food and beverage outlets, overwater accommodation, airport runways and arrivals buildings, spa and wellness buildings as well as accommodation for the resort's 400 staff. Much of the work was design and build.
Each villa was custom built from Fijian materials according to one-of-a-kind designs that make no two villas alike. With restaurants clawing at the cliff's edge and villas almost dipping into ocean waves, Laucala was a project that required the expertise and creativity of a proven construction company.

LITTLE POLYNESIAN
Raratonga, COOK ISLANDS
"Little Polynesian is a boutique resort and the Cook Islands' most exclusive 5-star resort. No stone was left unturned for this project. Attention to detail was important and the results are brilliant. Most of this project was supplied or prefabricated from our Suva factory and shipped to the Cooks'.
Within a seven month time frame, PBS completed 10 luxury beachside bures and 4 garden bungalows with decks and courtyards along with a central facility building, pool, custom-made furniture and reception area. The entire resort was traditionally styled with a design flare that has superseded much of the typically accepted architecture in the Cook Islands.

WESTIN (DENARAU) SPA & TREATMENT
Denarau Island, Nadi, FIJI ISLANDS
The Westin Spa & Resort on Denarau Island near Nadi is operated by The Sheraton, Fiji. PBS was tasked to complete the new HeavenlySpa and under strict timelines PBS completed this traditionally styled complex to a five star level of excellence. It boasts Waterside Massage Huts, Treatment Bures, Gymnasium, Salons, Reception, Porte-cochere and expansive deckways. The Westin Spa & Resort was and is a remarkable and much anticipated project in which PBS is proud to have been a major contributor.

LIKULIKU "overwater bures,"
Malolo Island, FIJI ISLANDS
This relatively new resort has been a huge project for all concerned. 36 beach side bures, 10 overwater bures, complete central facilities buildings, a comprehensive"back of house" complex and out-buildings infrastructure. PBS began this project on a supply only basis, providing pre-fabricated wall framing to the beachside bures. Later, the experience of PBS was called on to build 10 bure villas which were erected on platform structures, 3.0m above the sea, on the reef edge - Fiji's first ÒoverwaterÓ bure resort is the result. Connecting the overwater Bures are over 300m of jetty walkways.

EU/FESP SCHOOLS PROJECT
FIJI ISLANDS
The European Union funded Fiji Education Sector Programme (FESP) has seen the investment of $50 million in the construction of some 229 schools around the Fiji Islands. Pacific Building Solutions under this program is proud to have been awarded the contract to construct some of the most remote and logistically challenging sites within the Fiji Islands and successfully completing 28 structures in 15 different, remote locations within a tight budget and equally tight 6 month construction schedule.

ONODERE
Qamea Island, FIJI ISLANDS
Laucala Island Resort, one of the world's most luxurious resorts recently commissioned us to construct new staff accommodation buildings on the island of Qamea, located east of the major island of Vanua Levu in the Fiji island group.
Construction commenced in November 2009 and was completed in March 2010. We completed 3 major two storey timber buildings accommodating over 150 employees and a community facility within 5 months.
We pre-manufactured these buildings within our facilities in the capital city of Suva and effectively took on the logistics challenges typical of outer island construction. PBS's commitment to cost-effective construction was reinforced by our ability to control quality from manufacturing to logistics and onsite construction.

SURVIVOR (FIJI)
Labasa, FIJI ISLANDS
The hugely successful and popular "Survivor" reality TV series finally made its way to Fiji in 2006. For Survivor Fiji we prefabricated and erected 170 "Safari Cabins" plus "Executive Tent Bungalows" used as crew accommodations in 5 weeks. In addition, we built props and assisted with the tribal council.
LAUCALA ISLAND AIRPORT & RUNWAY
FIJI ISLANDS
Over the last few years, PBS has developed the capability to design and construct international standard runways and airport facilities in remote and difficult to reach locations. One such project was the construction of Laucala Island Airport consisting of a 1200m x 23m wide runway, 200mm thick rigid concrete pavement design to PCN 18 rating. Further improvements to the pavement design included grooving to FAA specifications to prevent hydroplaning for higher performance aircraft and the completed design and installation of lighting for the airstrip and PAPI approach lighting.
The Laucala Runway consists of 27,000 sqm and over 20,000 tons of materials and plant and equipment required precise logistics planning utilizing every major vessel in the country. The success of this project saw PBS completing the runway within 16 weeks and the overall aerodrome handover within 8 months. This exceptional design and build contract was Fiji's first major concrete airport meeting all FAA and CAAFI standards and specifications for international port of entry requirements.

TUVALU MARITIME TRAINING INSTITUTE
TUVALU ISLANDS
The Tuvalu Government approached PBS requesting it to build 9 houses for use as staff accommodation at their Maritime Training Institute. PBS designed, engineered and shipped these two bedroom homes which included everything from the foundation platforms to the toilet roll holders in the bathrooms. PBS precut, prefabricated and packaged all 9 homes for shipping and provided all the required plans, specifications and related documentation.
